How 2022 Started - Snow and Cold

We found a suitable school for Michelle and she is progressing well through the year learning better English. Tay is still making sure she is fluent in Thai and teaching her the ABC’s of the Thailand language as well as traditional Thai customs.

I am never going to grow up!!

I was finally in a place where I could go see the Eagles in concert. It was a cold and stormy night but nice an warm inside with great tunes. I had a great seat and worth the price. Almost 3 hours of Hotel California and then their Greatest Hits - one on my bucket list items - and - would like to see them again.

Tay meets a new friend and she is from Thailand too.

My job in Monaca, Pennsylvania come to an end so it is time to move. I was called by a previous employer and asked if I wanted to take a job in Houston Texas. The offer was more than fair so we packed up a U-Haul trailer and hit the road in early September. We shipped Tay's car. We found a place to live in the Rice Military area of Houston near Memorial Park. It has a good elementary school for Michelle. I am working downtown and the drive to work and home is about 15 minutes each way. Michelle is in a good elementary school based on the rankings which was one of the reasons for picking this area.

The weather is more to Tay's liking as it is much warmer and not frigid cold in the winter like Pennsylvania was for her and Michelle. Tay has met some other Thai's that live in Houston so that is a good thing. There are a number of Asian food stores and more choices than in the Pittsburgh area.

There are activities that are convenient to participate in as we are in Houston. There is also a local group of former Tripoli 'kids' that I know from when I was living in Libya and a bunch of us also went to the same boarding schools in Switzerland. It is an active group with regular luncheons once a month. We get to sit and reminisce about how it was and how it is. The consensus is that we all enjoyed our time in Libya.

Then end of the year took us to the Houston zoo.

It has been a busy year. I hope all had a Merry Christmas and Happy New and better 2023.
Stay safe.

This is the end of Mike’s 2022 Blog – Thanks for stopping by for a read.

Be safe in your travels and please don’t drink and drive and certainly DON’T text – nothing is worth texting when driving – please pull over if it is that darn important – remember we did very well for years and years without having smart phones. Remember that you are supposed to control the smart phone not visa-versa.

Stay safe and have a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Years.
