WELCOME TO MIKE’S 2019 BLOG
YEAR 15 AND MORE TO COME
I finished 2019 in Plaquemine, Louisiana. I was pretty busy working 84 hours a week. The job was supposed to be 6 months but that turned into 8 months. Since Tay was busy in Thailand I worked as many days and hours as they would let me. In the end I worked 8 months without a day off. I was able to manage this as they had me working the night shift. This worked out really for me as I was able to get to any doctor’s appointments and other errands during the day and not have to take time off. The job ended for me in June. During the job I stared a keto diet - high protein and low carbs. The only way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories. What I discovered is by cutting out the carbs I did not feel as hungry so the task of losing weight was easier.
I spent a couple of weeks in Plaquemine taking care of some dental work then headed off to Maine to visit some family in Kittery, Maine. I was there for about a week then headed of towards Denver to visit my brother. On the way I went up into Vermont to visit with a cousin and then on to an old friend from boarding school days in Switzerland. I have not seen him since 1972 but it was almost like just yesterday. I spent the night then off to Denver.

I got to Denver to visit my brother and his wife as well as the house pets. I was there for several days then I headed towards Las Vegas to check on my rental property. The next day off to Fountain Valley, CA to see some more friends.
I got to Fountain Valley and was there about 10 weeks taking care of some personal business. I had some things in storage at my friend Daniel's shop. I had only meant to store the stuff for a year or so but work got in my way. I feel blessed to have such friends as Daniel and his wife Felicia who were so generous. I got a storage locker and moved my stuff and went through all the boxes and was able to down size more. Old clothes and old electronics which were never going to fit or work again. Of course I kept all my CD's, pictures and vinyl records.

So I am spending Christmas and New Year’s here in Thailand with Tay. The weather is nice and sunny with daytime temps in the 85 F. The evening cools off too about 75 F.
